12 Great Action Movies Ruined By Terrible Endings

Sorry, Nolan fans—the Dunkirk director may know how to helm an intense action sequence, but the closing scenes of his third outing for the caped crusader are an embarrassing misstep which see the filmmaker attempt to have his serious, gloomy ending and also throw in a cheesy Bond-style twist, with the resulting climax satisfying neither criteria.

When Bruce Wayne fulfils his destiny and drops the bomb in the ocean come the film’s overlong close, he saves Gotham at the cost of his own life, wrapping up the series tidily as the film gives audiences fresh fuel for their “was Bane right” thinkpieces.

Then we discover that the hero somehow managed to save himself too and is dining out in Italy with a retired Catwoman, because his old butler walks into the pair whilst on his much-needed holiday. A grin over a consequence-free Negronis in Naples, what a fittingly thoughtful ending for this deeply serious series.
