Lily has plenty of standard horror-film horror and does it well. However, what is truly awful is the familiar human kind of cruelty present in its first half.
Our protagonists are a housebound old man and a caretaker who tortures him. These scenes are horrible. His situation is truly helpless and she exploits that at every opportunity. All the while, some retributive force seems to lurk in the background.
It all comes together in the end, capping off this effective tale with a final scene that's gleefully twisted.
