12 Great Soundtracks In Otherwise Terrible Movies
1. Suicide Squad (2016)
It’s no doubt Suicide Squad is one of the most disappointing films ever. DC fans were waiting in anticipation for the comic of the same name to be brought to life in theatres, especially with such a strong cast and imaginative art styles going for it.
But regardless, everyone agreed the soundtrack was great and most definitely the best part of the film. It features many well-known artists such as Queen, Eminem and Twenty One Pilots. It also has a great variety of different music genres, ranging from techno to rock. As a standalone, it’s a terrific soundtrack.
However, the music is somewhat part of the problem. The songs are misplaced, badly chosen, sometimes overwhelming and are clearly an attempt at diverting the audience’s attention away from a very thin plot.
And aside from that, Suicide Squad is a surprisingly dull action film. There are no arguments about Jared Leto being the worst Joker of all time. The cool concepts are wasted on a feebly written narrative which never fully makes sense. The characters are underdeveloped and the genre feels inconsistent. It’s no wonder people despised this movie.
Nevertheless, the soundtrack remains Suicide Squad’s biggest (and possibly only) saving grace. It’s creative, fresh, addictive to listen to and utilises a great range of musicians.
