12 Great Soundtracks In Otherwise Terrible Movies

4. Batman Forever (1995)

The Greatest Showman Hugh Jackman
Warner Bros. Pictures

Batman Forever was considered a decline after the first two anthology movies. It was already missing Tim Burton, Michael Keaton and Danny Elfman.

Not only was there a jarring change in tone but Burton’s signature gothic visuals were sorely missed – it was all too cartoon-ish and slapstick. People didn’t like Val Kilmer’s performance as Batman, nor were they fond of the movie’s obnoxious villain The Riddler (Jim Carrey).

But even with its flaws, many have fallen in love with the 1995 superhero film for its sheer campiness and colourfulness, some even considering it their favourite of all the Batman anthology movies.

On top of that, there’s no denying some cracking tunes along the way which feel like a ‘Greatest Hits’ of the 1990s era. A lot of money was thrown in the music department and to an extent, it paid off. “Kiss from a Rose” did sensationally well in the charts whilst “Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kill Me, Kiss Me” was rightfully nominated for a Golden Globe.

And Elliot Goldenthal does an acceptable job of filling the shoes of Elfman for the movie’s underscore.

Sure, Batman Forever is a dip in the quality but it’s an enjoyable enough popcorn flick with some decent flourishes here and there to keep you watching until the end.

Just don’t bother with Batman & Robin. Ever.
