12 Greatest Ever Comic Book Movie Anti-Heroes

8. Marv

You really, really don't f*ck with people like Marv.

He's basically an uncompromising hero from the days before moral restrictions and allegories of personal growth got in the way of getting stuff done. A walking stereotype of a dock-born, battle-hardened bear who lives entirely to his own code of ethics.

Frank Miller - a man who knows a thing or two about drawing grotesque caricatures with character you measure in scars and swears - called Marv "Conan in a trenchcoat". And while he's got a big heart, the most enduring image of Marv is of the fearsome killer who kicks in teeth and takes names, and who has an oddly charming skill for taking beatings that would kill a rhino.

And if you need an image to hang his anti-hero status on, consider him spitting blood through a smile in the electric chair, defying even the current.
