12 Hidden Gem Zombie Movies You've Probably Never Seen

Colin may have had the hook of virtually no production budget, but at the same time another "zombie's point-of-view" movie was being made with an even more innovative perspective. That's because the zombies in Wasting Away (sometimes known as Aaah! Zombies!!) don't actually know that they are zombies at all.

In this cult comedy Matthew Davis (Reese Witherspoon's jerk ex from Legally Blonde, later to add to his undead cred as a regular on The Vampire Diaries) accidentally turns himself and his friends to zombies thanks to a mix of soft-scoop ice cream and an experimental toxic military serum.

As far as the gang's concerned, though, they're all fine. It's just that everyone else around them has suddenly become super fast moving and talking, not to mention irrationally gun-totingly aggressive whenever they come near.

Wasting Away has some creative ideas around the concept of the sped-up world from the oblivious zombie's perspective. Every so often we switch from the zombie's view to how they are perceived by everyone else and the movie swaps to a black and white horror aesthetic, while there's a fun bit about drunks being the only ones to see and understand the undead as real people.

With a game cast and some inventive set pieces, Wasting Away does a good job of affectionately, and gorily, skewering the cliches of the zombie genre making it a must watch for fans of the likes of Shaun Of The Dead and Zombieland.
