12 Insanely Subtle CGI Movie Moments Nobody Noticed

7. The Truck Flip - The Dark Knight

Anyone who knows anything about Christopher Nolan will be aware that he endeavours to utilise as little CGI as possible in his films, opting for practical solutions wherever possible.

The iconic truck flip from The Dark Knight was famously performed practically on an actual Chicago street, though it did require one small digital effect in order to create a perfect illusion for the audience.

Though in the movie the truck flips courtesy of Batman's (Christian Bale) steel tow cables, in reality the truck was flipped over 180 degrees with an extremely powerful piston placed underneath it as it passed by.

The piston then had to be removed in post-production, a relatively simple effect for sure, but the end result is so convincing it's easy to assume the truck was actually pulled over with tow cables.
