Although a big selling point of Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. was that it was going to be a weekly expansion of the MCU from the comfort of your own home, as things dragged on (and boy did that first season drag) it became clear things aren't as tightly related as that. The events of The Winter Soldier may have sent the team underground, but as cities started raining down and the Inhumans rose it became clear it was a one-way influence; the movies can affect the show, but the show will never even touch the films. Part of the problem is that the film and TV divisions of Marvel are separate (and now even report to different company heads), with the former not really viewing the latter as a major influence. But while that forced ignorance can be somewhat justifiable (or, rather, just about accepted) for TV-only heroes, that doesn't fly with Agent Phil Coulson. The breakout star of Phase 1, Coulson's death was a catalyst for the Avengers first assembling and his resurrection played a big part in Season 1 of Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Yes, his continued existence is supposed to be a secret, but it's incredibly short-sighted to not even put in a background nod to this universe-redefining element. Sadly, Kevin Feige has stated he still believes Coulson is dead in the movie universe, so this one's a little unlikely. The guy really needs to learn to share.
