12 Marvel Movies You Didn't Know Were Secretly Connected

6. Nick Fury’s Alternate Post Credit Scene – Iron-Man (2008)

The post-credit scene that started the MCU as we know it today. Without the grand entrance of Nick Fury and the Avengers initiative, the MCU would not exist, but what if it was different? In September of 2019, eleven years after Iron-Man's 2008 release, Kevin Feige released the alternate version of that infamous scene, and in light of the MCU's current course, it was almost prophetic.

Originally Nick Fury hints at more heroes and discusses the concept of the Avengers initiative. The alternate scene addresses 'gamma accidents', 'radioactive bug bites' and 'assorted mutants', clearly referencing the Hulk, Spider-Man and the X-Men. Each character referenced was held by different movie studios, in this case Universal Pictures, Sony and 20th Century Fox respectively.

At the time of filming the deleted scene was most likely a cheeky nod at Marvel's other properties, but today it speaks to Kevin Feige and Marvel Studio's confidence, even at the very beginning of their cinematic journey.
