5. The Amazing Spider-Man
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aL8ctUN1ZSIThe Scene: Capping off the first trailer is an incredible 34-second, uninterrupted POV sequence. We get to see the world through Spider-Man’s eyes and he leaps across buildings, crawls upside down and swings from a web. (1:43)
Why It Would Have Been Awesome: Quite frankly, that scene single-handedly got people excited about the unwarranted reboot that was The Amazing Spider-Man. It was hard to be skeptical when faced with such an inventive and original action sequence.
It was really something special to experience the world as Spider-Man, especially considering how successfully immersive the sequence was. No superhero movie had ever really tried to put the audience in their shoes before, so creatively, the scene was gold. Then there’s its actual execution, which is brilliant and believable, and could have been a joy to see on a giant screen.
For whatever reason, the final film used a brief, chopped-up version of this sequence during a throwaway montage. Even with all of the things this reboot would go on to butcher, perhaps this inventive POV sequence is the most unforgivable.
