12 Mistakes Marvel Needs To Avoid For Phase Three

1. Bringing Characters Back From The Dead

The Mistake: In any superhero movie or franchise, fans should be rightly skeptical if a noted character dies, because going by all the sorts of supernatural nonsense that can happen, there's every opportunity for them to be revived sometime down the line. Case in point, Agent Coulson's death in The Avengers was the most poignant part of the movie, but his resurrection in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. completely invalided what it meant, and even if you choose to ignore the show's storylines, you're likely still aware that he's in the world, alive again. Why It Could Ruin Phase Three: Because death has no consequence if you do it enough, and then it's extremely difficult to wring much emotion or pathos out of any character dying. Also, it completely obliterates the stakes of death, so it'll be more difficult to buy into the peril of the fights if everyone can be brought back "because magic". Quicksilver for one will hopefully stay dead after his grim end in Age Of Ultron, but there are no guarantees, especially considering that he died in the very same movie that he was introduced. If, as many suspect, Captain America may die in Civil War, he needs to stay dead. Thor can come back from the dead because he's a god and the Ninth world of Hel actually exists for him, but any human character rooted to Earth shouldn't really be resurrected.
