12 Most Anxiety-Inducing Sci-Fi Movies EVER
7. Tetsuo
A uniquely nightmarish addition to this list, 1989's Japanese cyberpunk horror nightmare Tetsuo is the story of an iron man who couldn't be further from our dearly departed Tony Stark.
No, the salaryman protagonist of this black and white splatter satire is a metal fetishist obsessed with jammed shards of the stuff into himself, creating some sort of mutant metal-man hybrid... or, alternatively, slowly driving himself mad and imagining the whole iron man part, depending on how you read the film's allegory of encroaching automation.
Either way, it's a sci fi trip you'll be watching and interpreting through flinching fingers, a terrifying and terrifically realized surreal cinematic nightmare.
