12 Most Effective Musical Moments In Film

2. Crying - Mulholland Dr. (2001)

Pulp Fiction Uma Thurman
Universal

After the beautiful identity chaos of Mulholland Drive, there is nothing more to be said.

When amnesiac Rita (Laura Harring) and her lover Betty (Naomi Watts) end up in the smoky Club Silencio, Rebekah Del Rio's performance is a sign of things to come.

The singer is alone on the stage that is awash in the haze of a somber night, one of those nights open to possibilities yet menacing with the freedom offered. Sadness is in the air and she feels it with every syllable she sings, her voice running away with the song.

As the prophetic and revealing song goes on, both Rita and Betty start weeping uncontrollably.

Something in their subconscious mind is telling them that this is the end, but the end of what? You cannot even imagine what Lynch still has in store and will have to see this gorgeous, mind-blowing film to find out.
