12 Most Effective Musical Moments In Film

7. Soul Meets Body - Catch And Release (2006)

Saying that Gray (Jennifer Garner) has been through a lot would be an understatement. After her fiancé Grady unexpectedly dies, she finds herself at his funeral instead of their wedding.

She is not ready for the grief and the painful aftermath of the tragedy. She is certainly not ready for Fritz (Timothy Olyphant), Grady's visiting womanizer friend, whose casual attitude and reckless irresponsibility she resents.

Finally, after mix-ups and twists and turns and misunderstandings, Death Cab For Cutie’s uptempo ballad is on. It accompanies Gray as she takes a road trip toward her true love, certain of her destiny, heart content at last.

As the song follows her, we are as sure as Gray is that she is doing the right thing. She knows that this trip will change her life and she is not only ready, but all in.

The breezy chemistry between Garner and Olyphant is but one of the winning aspects of this poignant and underrated film.
