12 Most Fan-Pleasing MCU Movie Moments
8. "I Am Iron Man" - Iron Man
You can usually expect a lot of things from superhero movies, but there are some fairly well-established rules of what will happen in the story. There will be an origin story, there will be a villain and there will be some element of a secret identity. Those are pretty much the pillars of intrigue on which the genre is built.
They're also what make subversions of any of them so compelling. So a comic book movie without an origin story stands out. One without a villain does likewise. And any time a superhero reveals their true identity - like Spider-man in the Civil War comics - it tends to get a major response.
Jon Favreau's Iron Man played up to that trope by having the MCU's cockiest, most delightfully self-serving hero (at least back then) end his first solo movie by outing himself because he thinks it's cool that everyone knows. And the smash-cut from his statement - which defies the sanctioned plan to deny all - to the credits is just glorious.
