2. Trump's Inauguration Speech Stolen From Bane

Verdict: Fake News! (But not fully).

The Internet is to blame for a lot of things, and turning Donald Trump into a Nazi capable of James Bond villain schemes through half-truths and blatant lies is one of its worst crimes - particularly when the truth is bad enough indictment.

As well as claiming he stole a speech from Bee Movie (an insufferable meme now), it was also said that Trump stole Bane's speech from The Dark Knight Rises for his inauguration speech, and mainstream media sites regurgitated the claim.

Jezebel was the first to make the link:

Trump:

“But we are transferring power from Washington D.C. and giving it back to you… the people. For too long a small group in our nation’s capital has reaped the rewards of government while the people have born the cost.”

Bane:

“We take Gotham from the corrupt! The rich! The oppressors of generations who have kept you down with myths of opportunity, and we give it back to you… the people. Gotham is yours. None shall interfere.”

He didn't “directly lift” the speech, but as The Independent remarks Trump’s speech does “share... eerie sentiments” with Bane's rabble-rousing speech. They're both populist, they both seek to inspire a similar uprising, but whether he actually sat down and cribbed from The Dark Knight Rises remains a little doubtful.

At least let's hope so.
