12 Movie Franchises That Need To Take A Break
11. Jurassic Park
Are there any billion-dollar franchises more depressing than Jurassic Park? Despite releasing five movies over the last 25 years, only the original has actually been much good.
Jurassic World was a safe, nostalgia-fuelled resurrection of the franchise, and this summer's Fallen Kingdom proved that writers Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly don't have any interesting or, erm, logical ideas for where the series should go.
There's obviously no stopping the train for Jurassic World 3, which is set to release on June 11, 2021, but once this trilogy-capping instalment is done with, it's probably time to put the dinos back in the box for a little while.
Get rid of Trevorrow and Connolly, wait 5-10 years and let another filmmaker take a crack at it. Ideally someone with more convincing credentials in blockbuster filmmaking, like Matt Reeves, perhaps?
But as we all know, mainstream audiences will eat up Jurassic Park movies good or bad, so Universal will probably announce a third franchise trilogy before Jurassic World 3 has even hit screens. Yawn.
