12 Movie Sequels That Luckily Didn't Happen
6. Ferris Bueller: Another Day Off
The unimaginatively titled Ferris Bueller sequel was proposed to follow Ferris, now in his 40s, as he struggles through a mid-life crisis. Seeking help from Cameron, who is now (you know, obviously) his boss, the two skip out of work and go on a journey of self discovery and evaluation. And that's it: Ferris Bueller, exactly as you remember it, only everyone's older.
Director John Hughes said openly that such a follow up would be a bad idea and refused to return. He also said he didn't like doing sequels, despite penning both Home Alone 2 and (sigh) 3. Matthew Broderick also wasn't interested, saying that he didn't think the film needed a follow up and was fine as it was.
Since Hughes sadly passed away in 2009, speculation about a sequel has died down, and it seems as though the film will never happen. Of course, this is for the best; some films don't need a shock Part Two. Some, like Ferris Bueller, work better alone.
