12 Movies That Cast MAJOR Actors (Just To Die)
4. Bryan Cranston - Godzilla
Fans of the most acclaimed TV show of recent years were excited to see star Bryan Cranston's first post-Breaking Bad role was a part in the new Godzilla. The movie's marketing made sure to cash in on Cranston's TV fame with trailers that emphasised the plotline in which his nuclear engineer tried to discover the cause of his power plant's destruction years earlier.
In the actual film, though, the erstwhile Walter White didn't even last long enough for the movie's other headline star - the gargantuan atomic lizard - to show up. Instead he was bumped off by a lesser nuclear monster at the end of the first act in order to give his son some angst as the movie's real protagonist.
Audiences were generally more irritated at focusing on a wooden Aaron Taylor-Johnson ahead Cranston's more interesting character, than they were shocked at the early death of a big name star.
Even Cranston himself would go on to call his character's early death "a narrative mistake".
Still, at least he did better than Juliette Binoche as his wife. The French actress may no longer be quite as big a star as she once was, but remains a pretty notable name for a role that only requires her to die in the opening scene.
