The Foreshadowing

After Ripley's experience with the treacherous Ash in the first Alien - who was working on behalf of the Weylan-Yutani corporation to bring an alien back alive - she's inevitable mistrusting of androids. They're subject to orders from their superiors after all, and as Ripley knows, their superiors can be a bunch of dicks.

So we are led to follow Ripley's lead and distrust Aliens' resident droid Bishop, who is just as shifty as Ash and initially appears to be cut from the same villainous cloth. That counts doubly when he's seen examining some dead facehuggers as if he too is working to bring a xenomorph back to the company.

What Actually Happened...

Bishop is actually a good guy. He was following Burke's orders when he appeared to be suspicious. He actually ends up helping lead the escape from the infested planet, taking critical damage in the process and earning RIpley's trust.
