12 Movies That Tried Too Hard To Innovate (And Sucked Anyway)
5. Cube 2: Hypercube
This sequel to the entertaining science-fiction horror film Cube went in a very different direction. Rather than traps, this one revolves around a cube where time and space are distorted and things get incredibly weird. There's time travel, parallel dimensions and even a zero-gravity sex scene/death scene. It might sound fun, but it really isn't.
By abandoning the physical traps and a solvable puzzle Cube 2 loses what made the original so fun and in its desperate attempts to be different and trippy it just gets convoluted and fantastically stupid, yet somehow incredibly boring at the same time.
This one is about as bad as horror sequels get and if it had just stuck to basics and not gone so completely overboard with its plot, everything would've been fine.
