12. Resident Evil: Afterlife

They keep making them, so somebody else must be enjoying these movies, though you wouldn€™t know it from the number of online critics that used words like €œplotless€ and €œbrainless€ to describe this third sequel in the video game franchise. Resident Evil: Afterlife is an exploitation movie for the multiplex era, and let's be perfectly clear what elements it is exploiting. These movies cater to skinny white boys that like zombies, chicks with guns and stuff that blows up real good, so the real question to ask is: is this a better movie than Resident Evil: Extinction? The answer is a resounding yes because the director is Paul WS Anderson, returning to the director€™s chair for the first time since the original. More interesting visually, and with tauter action scenes, this is the pick of the sequels to date. Released in 3D, it€™s also the first Resident Evil movie that doesn€™t begin or end with Jovovich getting gratuitously naked.
