12 Best Movie Dream Sequences (And What They Mean)

3. An American Werewolf in London

What happens: David Kessler has been having a time of it. Not only did he happen upon famous comedian Rik Mayall in a rural pub on the Yorkshire moors, he and his friend Jack were then savaged by a wolf. David survives, but is haunted by his less-lucky friend, who tells him he's a werewolf now and should probably kill himself. The only place he can seek solace is in sleep...but not really, because he just ends up having whacked-out nightmares about Nazi mutants breaking into his family homestead and killing everyone when they're trying to watch The Muppets. Probably some sort of critique of The Muppets. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0wShZqevLU What it means: "To see a Nazi in your dream represents an evil and merciless force that cannot be reasoned with. You feel that others are putting you down. If you are a Nazi sympathizer, then the dream has the opposite significance." It's good that this site also caters to Nazi sympathizers. Equal opportunities dream reading. "To dream about the death of your parents indicates that you are undergoing a significant change in your waking life. Your relationship with your parents has evolved into a new realm." I imagine being a werewolf would affect your relationship with your parents, yes. How about the dream-within-a-dream bit at the end, where Jack think's he woken up to his overly-friendly nurse Jenny Agutter (who might be Black Widow in disguise)? "To dream that you are dreaming or daydreaming signifies your emotional state. You are excessively worried and fearful about a situation or circumstance that you are going through. Dreaming that you are dreaming also serves as a layer of protection from what you are feeling. The dream within a dream allows you to experience certain difficult feelings that may otherwise be too painful to confront if you were directly dreaming the scenario." Seems a little judgemental to suggest he's "excessively" worried about the whole werewolf thing.
