12 Sci-Fi Movie Remakes Coming In 2020 (And Beyond)

The list of projects that Guillermo Del Toro has almost made is considerably longer than what he actually made and there are some seriously eye-catching titles on there. And while some of them absolutely will not ever see the light of day as anything other than sparkles in the great director's eye, others probably will make it to the big screen in some form.

One of the most promising is Fantastic Voyage, the film Del Toro seemed to be set to make after winning big at the Oscars with The Shape Of Water. It was put on ice, though, as the director announced his intention to take a year-long hiatus from film-making. Even then, the crew has grown with the addition of Pail D Austerberry, who worked with Del Toro on The Shape Of Water, so there's some promise there that he's still attached.

The film would remake the 1966 ground-breaking original and it's intriguing in particular for the invitation for Del Toro to explore the environments within a human body (as a tiny ship navigates the body of a comatose scientist) rather than his usual fixation with bodily exteriors. And we know the script is complete already thanks to Del Toro, so as long as the stars align, it might not be too far off into the future.
