12 Simple Fixes That Would Have Made Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Awesome

1. Ditching Colin Trevorrow & Derek Connolly

The easiest thing this movie could've done to improve itself was not bring back writers Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly. They did a thoroughly mediocre job with Jurassic World, but because that movie made mad bank at the box office, Universal couldn't bring themselves to tinker with a winning formula.

Since Jurassic World hit it big, though, a number of personal embarrassments have cast doubt on Trevorrow's talent in particular: his pet project The Book of Henry was a colossal, infamous bust, and he was subsequently removed as writer-director for Star Wars Episode IX.

Trevorrow will be back to write and direct Jurassic World 3, and it's hard to have any faith whatsoever. Having a fresh, hungry writer take a stab at Fallen Kingdom would likely have resulted in a far more interesting film, and at least put it a million miles away from the sometimes embarrassingly low-effort material that Trevorrow and Connolly turned in.

The movie can keep director J. A. Bayona, though, because he did the absolute best that he could with that script.
