5. "Let Jesus f**k you! Let Jesus f**k you!" - The Exorcist (1973)
Little Regan gets possessed by a demonic entity and starts behaving like a brat with really bad behaviour - cussing at adults, levitating, spewing forth gallons of pea soup, but her most startling moment comes with a humble crucifix. She grabs the crucifix and uses it effectively as a sex toy, ramming it into her vagina whilst screaming "Let Jesus f**k you! Let Jesus f**k you!". This scene is startling on a number of levels. One, some viewers may view the scene as being sacrilegious. Two, it's a young girl masturbating and three, it looks like what she is doing to herself is very painful. I can imagine audiences being very shocked and disgusted in the 1970s, and the scene still has the ability to shock people 40 years later.
My first film watched was Carrie aged 2 on my dad's knee. Educated at The University of St Andrews and Trinity College Dublin. Fan of Arthouse, Exploitation, Horror, Euro Trash, Giallo, New French Extremism. Weaned at the bosom of a Russ Meyer starlet. The bleaker, artier or sleazier the better!
