12 Subtle Movie Plot Points You Probably Overlooked

8. The Payphone Only Accepts Outgoing Calls, Hinting At The Plot Twist - Fight Club

The Plot Point: When Jack (Edward Norton) is calling Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt) after his condo is blown up, viewers can see that the payphone says "no incoming calls allowed", rather blatantly hinting to viewers that something isn't quite right here, and that, of course, Jack and Tyler are really the same person, as is revealed at the climax. Why You Probably Missed It: Because it's on screen for the shortest time, and even if you did manage to see it, you'd probably just dismiss it as a continuity error of some kind, right? Still, David Fincher has proven time and time again his meticulous attention-to-detail as a director, so there's absolutely no way this was a coincidence.
