12 Tech Advances We Should Have By Now (According To Movies)

5. Cryogenic Freezing

Promised By: Demolition Man Joining in with the idea that the nineties were going to see a fantastic advance in ridiculous military technology was Demolition Man, the Sly Stallone driven action flick that dared to claim it was an adaption of Aldous Huxley's Brave New World. In it, Stallone is framed for the deaths of civilians and is placed in CryoPrison, frozen in a big tub for 36 years. If cryogenic freezing was possible in the nineties - and rumours regarding the afterlife of Walt Disney speculate it may well have been - then surely there would have been better uses for it than freezing criminals, who would presumably suffer absolutely no punishment for their crimes other than prologued, albeit cold, life. There is no sensible explanation for why you would freeze inmates, as one would think this would cause more overcrowding, not ease it - though it would do wonders for quietening prison riots.
