Of all the comic book characters to make their debut in Bryan Singer's ground-breaking superhero classic, was any one of them more thinly-written and offputtingly daft than Toad (Ray Park)?

Fox opted to re-imagine the character as more of a goofball and less grotesque than in the comics - presumably to try and sell more action figures - but he ended up cringe-worthy and unconvincing. That CGI tongue still haunts us...

Cause Of Death: Struck by lightning at the hands of Storm (Halle Berry). There's a lot of hate for Berry's delivery of the infamous "You know what happens to a toad when it's struck by lightning?" line, but it was still a suitably brutal overkill demise for an irritating antagonist who landed on the wrong side of silly.
