11. Black Widow Is Coming

It may feel a little like the ship for a Black Widow solo movie has long since sailed. We were supposed to get one back in 2004, but thanks to Aeon Flux sucking, the plan was canned and the MCU kicked off with Widow brought into Iron Man 2 as a supporting figure only.

But hold on to your hats, folks, because Marvel ARE keen on bringing out a Black Widow solo movie (after what feels like years of fan pressure. In an interview with Deadline, Kevin Feige said as much:

“Of the characters that you’ve just mentioned I would say certainly the one creatively and emotionally that we are most committing to doing is Black Widow…We think she’s an amazing character. We think Scarlett Johansson’s portrayal of her is amazing. She’s a lead Avenger and has amazing stories in her own right to tell that we think would be fun to turn into a stand-alone franchise.”

Commitment to trying and actually doing are different, of course, but at least the sounds are positive. Presumably that will come after 2019 if it is coming at all.
