12 Things We Learned From Rose McGowan On Louis Theroux’s Podcast
1. She Thinks That Hollywood’s Initial Dealings Of The #metoo Movement Were Disappointing
If we rewind back to when Hollywood started to wake up and react to the New York Times’s revelations of Weinstein’s crimes, the 2018 Golden Globes Ceremony is perhaps one of the standout moments.
In solidarity with victims of sexual violence and in protest against the on-going inequality of female power, the stars took to the ceremony’s red carpet in black dresses, black shirts, and pins that read ‘Time’s Up’. However, McGowan believes this idea was “an absolute farce.”
She described the black dresses as completely insipid and thinks the silence was an ineffective strategy for promoting any kind of social change. What’s more, during this time when McGowan was one of the most important women on the planet, let alone in Hollywood, she wasn’t even invited to the Golden Globes ceremony. Talk about injustice.
