Animating is no menial task. While it might be easy to assume that just because something isn't hand-drawn and is generated on a computer that it's not much work, this couldn't be further from the truth.

The sheer amount of man power and hours required to make a film like Toy Story, Finding Nemo, or Inside Out is absolutely staggering, which makes the risk of employees genuinely injuring themselves through strain a very real possibility. For this reason Pixar employees an ergonomist named Arlie Stern to tweak desks and advise animators on how best to work.

According to Arlie, animation requires such precise movements that the risk of injury is greatly increased, especially when strung out over a lengthy period of time.
