12 Things You Learn Rewatching For Your Eyes Only

7. The Identigraph Sequence Has Aged (Hilariously) Badly

One of the more amusingly aged sequences in For Your Eyes Only sees Bond checking in with Q (Desmond Llewelyn) to help identify Belgian assassin Locque (Michael Gothard). Q takes the opportunity to unveil his cutting-edge 3D photo-fit machine referred to as the Identigraph.

The technology allows Q to create a visual profile of the assassin from Bond's physical description, which is then run through a host of intelligence databases and, of course, prints out a matching image seconds later.

It's neat technology and all, but it's just a little too easy and tidy for its own good. Bond gives a pretty vague, generic description and it's apparently enough to match Locque from the presumably millions of criminals in these databases.

Considering we still don't have technology quite this efficient and sophisticated almost four decades later, it's pretty hilarious how optimistic this vision for near-future crime-fighting tech was. At least it's fun, right?
