12 Things You Learn Rewatching Licence To Kill

12. Franz Sanchez Is The Series' Most Ferocious Villain

Licence to Kill's primary antagonist is, as the saying goes, a real piece of s***. Drug kingpin Franz Sanchez (Robert Davi) is a welcome reply to all those complaints that the Bond series was overdoing it with the effete megalomaniac villains, with Sanchez getting his hands decidedly dirtier than just about any prior Bond baddie.

In addition to being an almighty drug lord, Sanchez has a clear hatred of women - beating Lupe (Talisa Soto) and having Felix Leiter's (David Hedison) wife Della (Priscilla Barnes) raped and murdered - had zero qualms about brutally disfiguring Felix with the help of a shark, and basically takes Bond villain sadism to a whole new level.

Robert Davi does deliciously entertaining work in the role, proving to be a rarest of franchise antagonists who is both highly intelligent and enormously intimidating.
