12 Things You Learn Rewatching You Only Live Twice

6. It's Both Silly & Boring

You Only Live Twice is a rare Bond film that's unfortunately both thoroughly daft and actually quite boring at times. Though there are eccentric set-pieces and eyebrow-raising moments, the spine of the story is a total slog, a dull, breadcrumb-following exercise leading to the final showdown at SPECTRE'S volcano lair.

Even the Roger Moore-era Bond films, insanely goofy though they are, generally maintain interest and largely cannot be dismissed as dull. This, however, touts one of the least-interesting and most unambitious Bond narratives to date, and neither the Japanese flavour nor the increasingly outlandish shenanigans can do much to remedy that.
