Release Date: September 19th 2011's Dolphin Tale was a modestly successful family film, a sappy but relatively watchable effort thanks to the likeable cast, namely Morgan Freeman, Kris Kristofferson and Ashley Judd. We've seen these sorts of affectionate boy-and-his-pet stories dozens of times before, but it was one of the better recent attempts, if not one that sticks in the mind long after the credits roll. Nevertheless, it went over well with critics, and grossed over twice its $35 million budget. So, why not another? Is there anyone that's really a big enough fan of this film that they want to see a sequel? The premise apparently is pretty much exactly the same, except revolving around a new baby dolphin, but as we all know, the law of diminishing returns is an extremely powerful one. Luckily, virtually every cast member from the original is back, so that will certainly help its box office chances, even if it sounds totally pointless from a creative standpoint.
