12 Worst Casting Decisions In Marvel Movies

11. Rebecca Hall - Maya Hansen

Maya Hansen was a key character in the Iron Man Extremis storyline and is one of the scientists who created the Extremis virus. So when it was announced that Iron Man 3 was to adapt the Extremis story arc and the awesome Rebecca Hall was cast, there was potential for Maya Hansen to be an interesting character. Unfortunately, Marvel and Hall fumbled the ball on this one. Comic book Maya Hansen was a scientist with a genius intellect who looked out for her own best interests in regards to her work. In Iron Man 3 however, Hall seemed to have taken that character, got rid of any semblance of genius she might've had, and turned her into nothing more than a woman who was scorned and wants nothing more than to get back at Tony Stark for not calling her. Hall's version of Maya was so inconsistent from scene to scene that the character seemed more at home in a psychological horror film than a comic book film. It's hard to blame everything on Hall for this blunder as the material for the film wasn't particularly great and she's normally pretty good at the whole acting thing, but you can't help but feel like she just didn't know what to do with the character.

My life story is nothing special. I haven't cured ebola, I'm nowhere near stopping terrorism, and I'm still working on that climate change problem. Instead, all I've done so far is put a few hundred words together in an attempt to make people laugh. You can follow me at @Fry_ying_pan but don't be offended if I don't tweet back. It's usually because I've spent too long trying to think up a witty response that the reply window has closed.
