13 Actors' Favourite Movies You'd Never Expect

3. The Last King Of Scotland - Kristen Bell

Beverly Hills Ninja Christian Bale
Universal & Fox Searchlight

The Film: Kevin Macdonald's searing account of Ugandan dictator Idi Amin's (Forest Whitaker, in an Oscar-winning performance) regime, as seen through the eyes of his Scottish doctor (James McAvoy) in the 1970s.

Why You'd Never Expect It: Again, we're judging an actor as a person solely from the projects they star in, but Kristen Bell seems like a sweet, lovely person who appears largely in comedies and fairly harmless, frothy productions.

That she picked something so unrelentingly grim among her other favourite movies such as When Harry Met Sally..., National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation and Fletch is highly unexpected to say the least.

What She Said: "I really like The Last King of Scotland, if I’m in a dramatic mood, because it was so furiously disturbing. Even though I don’t love the subject matter — it’s not a subject I crave, ’cause it scares me so much — I was sort of put into a real dark place after that movie."
