13 Actors' Favourite Movies You'd Never Expect

1. Dawn Of The Dead - John Cusack

Beverly Hills Ninja Christian Bale
MGM & United Film Distribution Company

The Film: The undisputed king of the zombie genre, George A. Romero's 1978 horror masterpiece about a small group of survivors who barricade themselves in a shopping mall.

Why You'd Never Expect It: While Cusack is an eclectic actor with an increasingly diverse filmography, we'd figure his favourite movies to be politically-minded dramas rather than a gory zombie flick.

Then again, the movie's political undercurrent won a lot of people over who would typically dismiss the genre, so perhaps that's it.

What He Said: "I just think the premise of holding up in a mall…being that prescient about the kind of gated communities, and consumerism, and mixing that with zombies in 1978 is just beyond genius.

It’s so amazingly looking into the future. So I think those kinds of themes I responded to. And Goblin did the original soundtrack."
