Why You'd Never Expect It: Since almost blacklisting herself with risible performances in the Star Wars prequels, Portman has mostly steered clear of strictly mainstream fare (aside from two Thor movies, which she seemed utterly bored in) and typically opted to star in more left-field productions.

Though Portman of course tackled the role of a ballet dancer in Black Swan, Dirty Dancing is still a surprising pick considering the movie's undeniably lightweight nature, when you consider that Portman graduated from Harvard and is a ferociously intelligent feminist.

Then again, you strip away the 80s cheese and Dirty Dancing is itself a relatively feminist movie. Indeed, appearances can be deceiving.
