13 Awesome Films You Forgot Were Christmas Movies

3. The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

Girl With The Dragon Tattoo Christmas
Columbia Pictures

In case you're unconvinced that David Fincher's re-adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is a Christmas film, remember that the movie was marketed as "the feel bad movie of Christmas" in 2011, a smart attempt to counter-program it against the glut of slushy holiday flicks. As for the actual content itself? Well, it's admittedly a grim prospect, given that the story revolves around murder, rape and general abuse, and is about as frosty as a trip to the gynecologist.

Still, there's a lot of snow in almost every scene, so there's that, right? The most Christmassy moment of the entire movie occurs right at the end, when Lisbeth (Rooney Mara), who is now in love with Mikael (Daniel Craig), buys him a leather jacket as a Christmas present, but after seeing him with his long-time lover Erika (Robin Wright), bins the jacket and rides off. So, yeah, the spirit of Christmas, then?
