13 Awesome Movie Sequel Pitches That Were Stupidly Scrapped

12. Rage Goes Worldwide - 28 Months Later

The Pitch: 28 Weeks Later ended with an elegantly simple set-up for the next movie, showing Paris being overrun with rage-infected humans. The virus has spread outside the U.K.'s borders, and by the time 28 Months Later takes place, it'll presumably have ravaged a significant chunk of the world.

What Happened?: Though 28 Weeks Later easily quadrupled its mere $15 million budget, it didn't do quite strong enough numbers to encourage Fox to press on with a sequel.

In the decade since its release, the original movie's director Danny Boyle and writer Alex Garland have made numerous attempts to get the film made, though Garland has suggested that bureaucratic red tape is the main reason for it not happening.

Of all the reasons for a film not to go into production, this has to be the most infuriatingly vague.
