As anyone who follows movies knows, Hollywood is a ridiculously fickle business, and it doesn't take much to stop a potentially great movie from getting made. Conversely, sometimes films you might take for granted as forever destined for greatness were actually the result of a happy accident of sorts, occurring in large part because a terrible movie was made beforehand. This can be because a prior effort sucked and required a strong reboot to follow, or simply because said awful film gave a now-iconic filmmaker their start in the business, but each terrible film can't be completely loathed given the brilliance it led to. Without a certain crappy movie, it's incredibly likely (if not outright true) that these awesome films simply wouldn't exist. It's enough to make you think about how many mediocre yet profitable franchises over the decades might've benefited from outright sucking so that they could have got the reboot treatment they desperately needed, and how many promising artists are currently getting their big breaks by working on awful films. These craptacular films absolutely needed to be wrought upon audiences to ensure that they nurtured an awesome reboot or an up-and-coming creative talent.
