13 Awesome Performances In Otherwise Disappointing 2021 Movies

4. Tom Hardy - Venom: Let There Be Carnage

Reminiscence Hugh Jackman
Sony

In 2018's watchable but mediocre Venom, Tom Hardy's lead performance as Eddie Brock/Venom was the best thing in it by several clear miles. And in this very slightly better sequel, he's once again the film's greatest asset by far.

Hardy's fiendishly entertaining lead performance is a superb comedic turn that reaffirms Tom Hardy as a master of physical acting and also sees him nailing exactly the right vibe.

He fully captures the silly, OTT tone that has made these deeply flawed Venom movies at least watchable and honestly, Hardy is so many leagues ahead of every other element in the film that it ain't even funny.

More than anything else, Tom Hardy's absolutely hilarious work suggests that he should really think about dabbling in comedy a bit more.
