Thor: Ragnarok did a splendid job introducing a host of new characters, few better than Scrapper 142 aka Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson). After Thor (Chris Hemsworth) arrives on Sakaar following his confrontation with Hela (Cate Blanchett), he's quickly accosted by some cannibal locals, who subdue him until a spaceship arrives on the scene.

Valkyrie emerges from the ship, beer bottle in hand, and as she stakes a claim for the Asgardian, she drunkenly stumbles off her ship into a pile of trash. The cannibals refuse to hand Thor over, so she activates her gauntlets, which also control her ship's machine-guns, and blasts the gang into a pile of dust and rags.

Thor thanks her for saving him, and she cannily responds by shocking him unconscious and dragging him aboard her ship. When he protests again? She gives him another high-voltage shock.

It's an awesome introduction that not only cements Valkyrie's take-no-s*** persona, but gives her an awesome action beat and hints at the later reveal of her suffering from PTSD.
