13 Best & Worst Movies From 2014 Oscar Nominees

11. Bruce Dern

Best: Monster (2003) The killer biopic might have belonged to Charlize Theron, thanks to her incredible, squirm-inducing performance as Aileen Wuornos, but the film only works because of everything and everyone else who populates her background. Along with Christian Ricci, Dern is as strong as Theron without the showers of applause. Worst: Down Periscope Blame Kelsey Grammer. Or the Village People. Dern doesn't have many missteps on his rap sheet, but the fish out of water but actually in water "comedy" is a noticeable low point even in Grammer's unfortunately underwhelming big screen career. As such it's also a bad reflection on every member of the cast.
