13 Best & Worst Movies From 2014 Oscar Nominees

6. Julia Roberts

Best: Pretty Woman (1990) The irresistible story of prostitute Vivian Ward and businessman/trick Edward is easily Roberts' best, even if it should have been even better without the changes to the script that sanitised it and took out the better dark parts. Somehow, the performances of Roberts and Richard Gere manage to propel a story about drugs, prostitution and aggressive capitalism to become one of the greatest and most enduring love stories of our time. So perhaps there's time for Wolf Of Wall Street to be classed the same way... Worst: Mirror Mirror (2012) Tarsem Singh's typically unrestrained but good-looking take on Snow White is an artistic mess devoid of real substance, and Roberts' performance is the epitome of why she invariably attracts accusations that she is more interested in the perpetuation of her star rather than of her craft.
