The Twist: After Claire (Michelle Pfeiffer) starts seeing the ghost of a young woman in her new home, she thinks she is going crazy. She soon starts to suspect, however, that the girl had been murdered by her shadowy neighbour.

Upon further investigation, she discovers the identity of the girl to be one of her husband Norman’s (Harrison Ford) former students. He reveals that after an affair with the girl, she threatened to expose him to the dean, so , in a panic, he killed her and proceeded to try and kill Claire as well.

Why It Almost Saved The Movie: Harrison Ford is the go-to guy for heroes, after all, the guy is both Han Solo and Indiana Jones. So when it’s revealed that he’s actually a remorseless killer, it came completely out of left-field. No one was expecting the revelation, which was made even better by his strong turn as a villain.

Unfortunately, those final twenty minutes can’t make up for the uneven ride to get there. There are scares sprinkled throughout, but the narrative feels unfocused. For instance, there’s too much time devoted to the prospect of the neighbour as a killer only for that subplot to be completely forgotten about it in the second half of the film. And no evil Harrison Ford can make up for that.
