Jude Law is a great actor, that much is proven by his eclectic CV, which has seen him sway confidently through romantic comedies, dramas and character pieces with increasingly interesting scope. Anyone who saw The Young Pope would testify to his brilliance.

But one thing he's not is Jared Harris.

Harris should have been cast to play the young Albus Dumbledore in the sequel to Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them, since his father played the aged version in the first two Harry Potters. Even more importantly, Harris is far more like his father than Jude Law could ever be, and he's completely believable as the gruffer, more extreme wizard Dumbledore was as a young man. Casting anyone but him was insane, regardless of who they are.

Will It Work?

It might, but it wouldn't work as well as if Jared Harris had been cast, which is precisely the point.
