13 Creepy Unsolved Mysteries That Need To Be Turned Into Movies
10. Chicago Tylenol Poisonings
Everyone’s irrational fears of being poisoned by a stranger came true during the fall of 1982 in Chicago. It started out with a 12-year-old girl, Mary Kellerman, who took an over-the-counter Tylenol pain killer to help with her cold. She ended up dead from cyanide poisoning: the same thing that killed six others who had bought bottles of Tylenol in that same time frame.
The horrifying thing is that this was no accident. The deadly bottles were all produced in different plants, meaning that someone intentionally laced the pills with poison either in store, or at home before returning the pills to the shelves. The person was never caught.
How Would The Movie Look?
It takes a truly deranged person to go to such elaborate lengths to kill strangers, and it’s for that reason that this film would need to be a deep dive into a sick character’s mind.
Following along the lines of Taxi Driver or American History X, a potential Chicago Tylenol Murder film would need to have an anchoring, Oscar-worthy lead performance.
Since the identity of the perpetrator isn’t known, that would give the director of this film free reign to cast anyone they want – of any age or gender – in a star-making role.
